Nowadays this would be passed off as your typical, slightly average evening gown but back in 1915 when Mariano Fortuny first started selling these, they were revolutionary.
If you think they were over-reacting, consider these people had just come out of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, where the female body was both exaggerated and hidden by corsets and full skirts. These dresses both accentuated the body and left it in it's natural shape.
